Prolotherapy is a treatment for arthritis and joint pain. Prolotherapy is an injection treatment that regenerates the joints, including cartilague and ligaments. Also is very helpful for tendinitis. This very simple injection has been proven successful in many patients.
How come your doctor has not told you about it?
One of the main reasons is that Prolotherapy is not covered by insurance. Also some practitioners are not familiar with this procedure.
How many treatments will I require?
It all depends, everyone is different. We should see some improvement in a couple of sessions.
Are there any contraindications for this treatment?
Although most patients are candidates, some will not be. Among them are patients who have an allergic reaction to injectable anesthetics (lidocaine, procaine). Also patients that had total joint replacement.
How painful is it?
Most patients tolerate this procedure with little or no pain. Some patients are a little bit more sensitive and require sedation or pain medication post treatment.
What to expect?
Although everyone is different, most patient describe soreness or heaviness for the next couple of days.
Will this affect my chances for surgery?
Not at all, if surgery is needed this treatment will not affect your eligibility for surgery.
