Hormone Replacement – Male

Low Testosterone

Low Testosterone is a condition known as Hypogonadism in which male patients stop or reduce the amount of testosterone that their bodies produce. The decrease of testosterone in most patients will start at 35 years of age and continues reducing 5% every year after. The cause of the low testosterone is not well known. However, it is theorized that an unhealthy environment, improper diet and stress are causative factors for this condition. If you experience any of these symptoms you might have low Testosterone:

  • Fatigue
  • Low sex drive or reduced sex drive
  • Erection dysfunction
  • Lack of recovery post exercise
  • Depression
  • Muscle soreness
  • Mood Swings
  • Lack of sexual interest
  • Lack of motivation

A very simple blood test can determine if your testosterone levels are below normal. The level of testosterone varies from patient to patient and treatments are individualized specifically for them. Multiple routes of treatment are available, injection therapy, creams, lozenges and bio-identical pellet implants are used to balance healthy levels of testosterone.
Testosterone is not the evil of the hormones. It is the improper use of anabolic steroids that has given it a bad reputation. In proper dosages and supervised by a physician, testosterone could be the difference between health and disease.
